The red-bellied piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri) is a fresh-water predatory fish, native to South America and known for its aggressive nature, making it an ideal choice for an aquarium. This species of piranha requires a large tank with plenty of room to swim as well as access to fresh food, preferably live. Though they are attractive fish, keeping them with other species should be avoided, as they prefer the company of their own kind.
