Zlatan Ibrahimovic and His Fishing Lake

Love him or hate him, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is hard to ignore. The flamboyant, and many would say 'arrogant', striker always seems to be in the news. Probably even more so now that he has joined Manchester United. This is a man who has said 'I can’t help but laugh at how perfect I am'.

Clash of the Titans

It will certainly be interesting to see how Ibrahimovic settles in under Jose Mourinho. Will this be a match made in heaven or a clash of the titans? Mourinho certainly seemed to have fallen out with all of his players at Chelsea last season and Ibrahimovic could well end up trying his patience.

Ibrahimovic has been involved in several violent incidents with other players over the years, most of these clashes were with team mates! In 2004 Raphael Van Der Vaart accused Ibrahimovic of deliberately trying to injure him. The Swede’s response was to threaten to break both of Van der Vaart’s legs. Good luck Jose!

Celebratory Fishing

The Swede had started his Manchester United career with a bang having scored with a spectacular overhead kick against Galatasaray. He apparently celebrated this feat by taking a fishing trip and his destination was his own fishing lake in Sweden. He is evidently obsessed with fishing and was delighted to post pictures of a huge pike that he landed which was his record catch.

Swimming Against the Tide

Ibrahimovic boasts a large tattoo of a koi-carp on his back. He says that he chose this image because the fish are known to swim against the current, just like him! Koi are a common choice of imagery for tattoos and last year he jumped on the bandwagon of launching a perfume to capitalise on his fame. The musk is called Zlatan Ibrahimovic Suprême. No surprise there then! Ibrahimovic is actually proving to be deeply unoriginal.

The advertising for the musky scent heavily featured carp but fortunately the perfume does not smell of fish! It has notes of lemon, spices and green grass with a heart of white lavender and top notes of vetiver, leather and wood. Apparently it is aimed at teenagers. The commercial looks like it is advertising a fishing liquid attractant!

Good and Bad

Ibrahimovic certainly divides opinion, much like his new manager. He is a player that fans love when he is playing for their team and hate when he isn’t. His arrogance makes him an easy target but he isn’t all bad. He loves fishing and in 2012 he paid for the Swedish football team for the intellectually disabled to compete in Brazil. What will he hit the headlines for next?
